Other government jurisdictions are learning how to save precious
rain water, but not Daly City or San Francisco.
What the government officials in Daly City and SF prefer to do is
hire consultants, spent tax dollars (55 million dollars) to ship
precious rain water out to sea.
Why?
Where is the accountability?
As a community that continues to construct housing, encourage
population growth and expand our infrastructure, we can no longer
afford to do business as usual. Water is a very precious
commodity that needs immediate attention and action, not delays and
sound bites.
We are very lucky to sit on top of a large aquifer.
It is my understanding that our Westside Basin Aquifer, which
supports Lake Merced, is 85% depleted. (SFPUC do you stand
by this number?) Based on the size of the WSBA, approximately 24
billion additional gallons of water could be stored
underground for future use, especially in an emergency.
Again, why does the city want to ship rain water out
to sea?
Answers please.
