Dear Tony:

Friends of Lake Merced has assembled a group of conservation and neighborhood representatives.  Together we have prepared the attached proposal for the use of the $150,000 the Board of Supervisors allocated to the PUC budget earmarked for Lake Merced.  We believe that this proposal satisfies the intent of that Board action.

We are pleased with the makeup of this group.  Together with Friends of Lake Merced there are representatives of the Audubon Society, the Sierra Club, SPUR, the West of Twin Peaks Central Council, SPEAK, the Golden Gate Heights Neighborhood Association, the Greater West Portal Neighborhood Association, and the Dolphin Rowing Club.  Technical input is provided by David Dawdy, a resident of the community and a retired USGS hydrologist.  The Neighborhood Parks Council has offered to support this activity as our fiscal agent.

We ask that the designated $150,000 be released to this group for the purpose of implementing this proposal.  We will of course be happy to conform to any reporting protocols that may be required.

Please let us know whom in your office we should contact to pursue this opportunity.

Sincerely,

John Plummer
