                 -- SUCKING THE WELL DRY: Remember the story about how the Olympic Club and other golf
                 courses and water users pledged to move toward using recycled water instead of sucking Lake
                 Merced in San Francisco dry by pumping water from the lake's aquifer? Then how come the golf courses
                 drilled a test well the next week in a move to steal yet even more water? That has inspired the
                 Committee to Save Lake Merced to sue San Mateo County, asking the court to revoke the
                 county permit as a violation of the California Environmental Quality Act. A slam dunk,
                 in my opinion.
